Some people think I have a problem......

I don't!  I just love Fairy Gardens and Miniature Gardens!

This year I've planted over 30 of them!  This is the majority of them.  I decided to concentrate on some smaller size ones this spring because I've been invited again to display them at the 2016 Annual RG&FC Garden Tour.  Smaller ones are easier to transport and hopefully will inspire some people to give this fun hobby a try!

Yes, I'll share them on my blog as the summer rolls out!

Blue.....

Delphinium blue is the star in my garden beds at the moment!

I can hardly believe how spectacular this is right now!  Brings a big smile to my face every time I look out my dining room sliding glass door!

Not even the rain has hindered this display!  And, from the looks of it, it will continue to bloom for a few more weeks!

I'll be sure to deadhead it promptly so I get some more stalks later!

Yellow Lady's Slipper

My gardening friend, Rita, is enjoying her Yellow Lady's Slipper in bloom right now!

Not exactly the usual flower you find in our flower beds!

Begonias for color....

In that shady bit of heaven my last blog featured...... Carol used begonias for a touch of color on their deck!  Love the grape vine touch on the deck railing!   Yep, those are the native phlox in the background!

Mother nature designs landscapes!

Using Mother Nature to create your landscaping can be awesome!  She even provides ferns!

Recently we were visiting friends whose home is nestled in a peaceful bit of shady territory on the edge of Rochester.  It is like stepping into another world for a visit!

Rhododendron

This is one plant/shrub I have never had or planted!  I like it but just felt I did not have sufficient place for it.

While I was taking this photo at my granddaughter's home I realized this colorful eye catching display takes little space and is an attractive seasonal spot of color!

I think I'd better check this out more when I need to consider replacing more of my garden beds with flowering shrubs.  I suspect my aging body will be requiring more reduction in gardening activity as time goes on.

Community Beautification Project

This last fall our local History Center approached our local garden club for help in reviving a rather good size garden bed that originally was established as a focus spot on their extensive grounds.  It was designed with a stream, some small waterfalls, a foot bridge and a few small trees.  Unfortunately it had lost the support of the previous community organization of designers and caretakers.

So, after evaluating what it would require,  our local garden club decided we would step in and using member volunteers and some money we earn with fundraising activities (Plant Sale and Garden Tour), invest in turning this focus spot into something really spectacular for our community to enjoy!

Thankfully, we found additional support with some local gardening businesses for some of the materials and two talented designers (professionals who also belong to our club).  The focus was to develop a low maintenance display bed to attract people and wildlife to stop by and enjoy!

Lots of volunteer labor has been busy planting this week!  Can't wait to see it after the plants have had some time to settle in and enjoy this year's growing season!

I drive by this location frequently so this is one of our garden club projects I will enjoy often!
