Marjorie McNeely Conservatory Como Park Minneapolis MN

The second stop on our escape day last week, was to walk thru lush greenery and flowers growing in SE Minneosta in March!

The fragrance of earth, plant material and flowers was just what we needed to celebrate the ending of the white winter of Minnesota!

Indoor miniature garden ideas

Last week we escaped town for a day of gardening inspiration in the Twin Cities area.  First stop of the day was the Original Bachman's on Lyndale in Minneapolis!   Denny, I and Tammy (neighbor gardener) had a delightful lunch in their patio inside a greenhouse!  The blue skies and sunshine were wonderful streaming thru the glass ceiling lighting up the flowers and plants on display.  A wonderful promise of spring in full bloom soon!

I just had to indulge in some mini plants for an open terrarium on my agenda and could not resist capturing a few pictures of indoor miniature gardens for inspiration!

Crocus time in SE MN!

Carla, a gardening friend, sent me a picture of her crocus that are up and smiling!  They got buried in 7 inches of snow the other day, but survived!    My crocus never bloom this early, thinking I have them planted too deep?  I need to order some more this fall as they have sort of disappeared!

At last spring has sprung in SE Minnesota!

And just as it was springing, my computer was not happy and very tired.  The hard drive was threating to die and the screen was flashing interesting warnings at me!   So, into the Computer Doctor Shop it went and after diagnosis and surgery replacing the hard drive, week + later it is back and regained its memory and instructions of  just what I wanted it to do for me.....  I am back at it!  (It goes back for a short adjustment tomorrow tho!)  And thanks also for my personal tech support person (granddaughter) helping me out!

This was all just in time to experience a record breaking 65 degrees outdoors that sent that white stuff melting into the ground so we could see green grass!

So I took a slow tour outdoors of all my flower beds and was to excited to see some green shoots poking up already!   I found some daffies and lots of my favorite spring bulbs poking up to greet me again!    I plan to move a few beginner patches of spring bulbs to the Pollinator Garden Bed I adopted in our neighborhood park near here.  I think they will enjoy spreading their wings and joy where walkers can spot them when they bloom!   Hope to do that this next week!

New Orchid!

Just could not resist this one.... only $13.00!

Especially when it jumped right into my cart at Trader Joe's!  It would have seemed too rude to make it go back on the shelf!

Are you Zooming it up on gardening information and inspiration?

Gosh but it has been fun checking out the various free or low cost opportunities on the internet for getting in on some gardening learning and inspiration.  So many of our state Master Gardener Groups are making so many Zoom Seminars available this late winter!

I just attended one on "Gardening on a deck" and it was filled with lots of tips and ideas to consider and ending with lots of questions and answers.  I find these seminars have very knowledgeable gardeners presenting!  The one tonite had over 100 people zooming into it!  Some are quite informal and some are very professionally done but all equally interesting and full of good information.

As I walked thru the garage today I noticed I should get some snow scooped up and added to the various fairy and miniature landscape gardens I have in pots tucked away waiting for spring!  That seems to work well to add a bit of welcome moisture to them.  It is wonderful to see our white stuff disappearing fast this week since we are going thru a warm up.  We should be hitting the low 40's by this weekend here in SE MN!  Yipeeee!

Ionite I noticed, while I lowered the shade in my office window, plants coming into view out there along the fence where the snow has melted!  Wheeeee!

Meanwhile, I enjoyed one more hyacinth coming into bloom in the living room!  The fragrance was delightful!

I Just finished getting my computer set back up and working!  It has been a whole week without it because it was into the computer doctor shop for a new hard drive installation.  I even had to do a bit of house cleaning to keep occupied this week!  (cleaned out the inside of all my kitchen cupboards)
